And in a break from my ongoing obsession with marriage equality…

… my deep sorrow over the casual treatment of our constitution these last 8 years.  This is supposed to be funny but it makes me want to weep.

Unity in Diversity… Equality for All!

With the unfortunate outcome of the recent passage of Proposition 8, the LGBTQ community has united in a presence that we have not seen since the early 1980’s and the onset of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Join LGBTQ individuals and organizations, PFLAG and our straight brothers and sisters at a peaceful rally and outreach on the steps of the California state capital building at 2:00 pm on November 22nd.

Please join us as we reach out to all the citizens of California to demonstrate that we will not tolerate discrimination to be written into our state constitution.  While we unerstand you have a very busy schedule, even the simple dissemination of this information to your many contacts is greatly appreciated.

Who: All Americans, not only from all over California, but from all over these United States!
Where: California State Capital Building, West Steps, Sacramento, CA
When: 11/22/08, 2:00pm – 6:00pm
Why: Equal Rights are inalienable and CANNOT be taken away.
Contact: or

In 1987 the largest rally for gay rights in Sacramento took place, counting 15,000 strong.  We need to stand together and make a statement that we will not stand idly by and let the rights of our sons, daughters, parents, and friends be taken away.  Twenty one years later – 30,000 strong.  Are YOU ready to make history?

The success of this event depends upon getting the word out.  Invite your friends.

If you have questions, please contact California Outreach at

Do we have the heart, or the right, to change the constitution with a simple majority vote?

October 27, 2008

Every day I post something about Prop 8, urging people to vote No.  I thought I was more educated on this issue than most people.  This video opened even my eyes.

No matter how you frame this issue – be it as one of civil rights, moral, legal, constitutional, religious, spiritual or social justice – passing Prop 8 is wrong.  It’s immoral, unconstitutional, unfair and in every other way wrong.

Everyone has the right to marry.  On Death Row, even Scott Peterson, has the right to marry.  Same sex couples HAVE the right to marry.  Why take it away?  Why are our rights less important than Scott Peterson’s?

In the legislature it takes a two thirds majority to change the constitution, but you’d be willing to let a simple majority change it in a vote?  Your rights might be next.

Straight people, heterosexuals, this is for you.  I don’t want to beg for your vote.  I shouldn’t have to beg for your vote – but we need it.  We need the majority to speak up and stand up for justice.  We need those of you with the right and the privilege to marry to protect our existing right to marry.   Vote No on Prop 8.

Please watch Rev. Deborah L. Johnson speak on the issue of same sex marriage, and Vote No on 8:

Palin & Biden on Dick Cheney

October 3, 2008

Sooooo…. Cheney has done more harm than any other single high elected official to shred the American Constitution…. and then there was that unfortunate duck-hunting accident.
