Prop 8 Pledge – Marriage Equality Movement

The Courage Campaign has created a pledge you can sign to repeal Proposition 8:

Fight the religious right: Repeal Prop 8 and restore marriage equality to California

Sign the pledge to build the Marriage Equality Movement

The birth of a new Marriage Equality Movement — the civil rights movement of the 21st Century — is unfolding before our eyes.

Movements are visceral and popular, often borne of outrage and anger. What we are witnessing on the streets and online is a community of people who have come together to say: “These are our lives. This is our time. This is unacceptable.” Organized from the bottom-up by thousands of ordinary people just like you in the last 48 hours, this people-powered phenomenon is exponentially growing by the minute, online and offline.

This is our moment to stand strong together — gay and straight — and say that we refuse to accept a California where discrimination is enshrined in our state constitution. Please show your support by pledging to support our campaign to repeal Prop 8 and restore marriage equality to California.

Please sign the pledge to repeal Prop 8 – – then forward this link to your friends:

We, the undersigned, are united in the refusal to accept a California where discrimination is enshrined in our constitution.

We pledge to repeal Prop 8 and restore marriage equality to California.

California has now spoken TWICE on this issue. There are no rights being denied to you who profess same gender attraction (California civil law 297.5) so stop lying about having your rights being taken away. This is a democracy. Always has been and the voice of the people has been heard AGAIN. You’re all for tolerance if it suits you. Your signs say “stop the hate”, when it’s you that carry it. You can always move to Massachusetts.

Why do you think rights are not being denied to same sex couples? CA 297.5 does not contain the full set of rights, protections and obligations as CA marital law. Same sex couples are not protected at all by federal law. Can you prove your assertion?

As far as me being “all for tolerance if it suits” me? When does tolerance not suit me? What would you like me to tolerate that I’m not currently tolerating? For instance, I’m tolerating you.

Awesome kickingalion!! I’ll put you on my blogroll and repost (if it’s ok with you) protest announcements, petitions, pending court cases… things I want to make sure everyone’s aware of. Thanks so much for doing this!!

Thanks for helping to spread the word about the injustice of Prop 8, and for keeping the issue alive. I figure we need to do at least that much, while we’re fighting to overturn the “peoples’ verdict.”
